The Skin Inspired by Botany Micrograph
The organic skin has been designed by inspiration of botany micrograph to create space like phenomenon with strong and thin unit structures instead of the presence of architecture. The facade reflects surroundings green landscape and introduces sunlight through frost glass panels, to heat inside up.
The architecture has been designed from the surrounding condition to maximize connection to the outdoor, the rose garden and the plaza, and also minimize service space rather than creation of its shape. The carpet which has been lifted up by an entrance hall and service spaces creates flexible and unique experiences for long-stay visitors, with the frost cage.
The multifunctional carpet can be used for different types of events from small scale to large scale, occupying 350 people into one space. Also the area will be expected to be used as daily use for citizen. The carpet creates the space for not only indoor, but also outside event which links to the surroundings, the rose garden and the plaza. The event would be taken place across the boundary between indoor and outdoor, and the spaces will fit seamlessly with the architecture and nearby spaces of the Botanical Garden.
