Embracing the corner lot situation, each corner of the Taichung Light Box engages the urban context differently. The structure is simplified to a concrete waffle system, freeing the space by locating the cores in a L-shape on the two inside boundaries where views are limited and sunlight is more direct.
The lower half of the building holds the lighting showroom and their office space. The circulation leads the visitor to an internal world embracing spaces of varying proportions and where stairs become landscape that showcase the lighting company’s products in different situations. Located on the top of the building are 4 floors of efficient and flexible rent able offices. A high-end restaurant is located at the underground level that is centered around a secret garden that provides privacy from the street level. The building as a whole represents the new identity of the company, while integrating three atmospheres for each function.
